Brockway, Curwensville Baseball Get Saturday Wins; Brockway Softball Drops Tough One

SMETHPORT, Pa. (D9Sports) – Thanks in large part to drawing 13 walks, Brockway cruised to an 18-1, three-inning win at Smethport Saturday.

Ten different Rovers received a free pass in the game led by two walks each from Hunter Antonuccio, Jesse Johnson and Angelo Inzana.

Antonuccio was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and four RBIs, Johnson was 1-for-1 with a run scored and two RBIs and Angelo Inzana scored twice.

Jarrett Esposito added a walk, a double, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Rovers, while Bryce Grecco and Andrew Trunzo both had two RBIs. Grecco was 1-for-1 with a run scored and Trunzo 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Three Brockway pitchers combined to two-hit the Hubbers.

Tyler Serafini went a hitless inning striking out one. Angelo Inzana then went an inning allowing a run on two hits and a walk before Trunzo went one inning scoreless.

CURWENSVILLE 7, GLENDALE 2

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Ralph Evans, Avery Francisco and Bryce Timko combined for six RBIs to lead Curwensville to a 7-2 win over visiting Glendale Saturday.

Evans was 0-for-2 with a pair of walks, while Francisco was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored and Timko 1-for-1 with a double, two walks and a run scored. Zach McClure also had a pair of hits for the Golden Tide, while scoring a run and driving one in, and Devin Barrett scored twice.

Timko got the win going 4 2/3 innings allowing one unearned run on one hit and two walks while striking out nine.

SOFTBALL

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Despite getting a pair of hits from Anndi Bartlett and two RBIs from Gabby Sabatose, Brockway dropped a 9-4 decision to Smethport Saturday.

The Lady Rovers led 4-1 after three before Smethport scored three in the fourth to tie the game and then added four more in the fifth to take control.

Bartlett had a double, scored once and drove one in for Brockway with Sabatose going 1-for-3 with the two RBIs.

Katla Dowdall took the loss going six innings allowing nine runs, only two earned, on 10 hits and a walk while striking out seven.
