    Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 7:46 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, an anonymous male pulled next to Corporal Berta’s marked patrol vehicle on Main Street in Brockway Borough and informed him that two individuals were in possession of meth in the Sheetz parking lot. The man stated that they would be pulling out on a motorcycle with a bearded male driving carrying a female passenger with long hair.

Corporal Berta then observed a black Harley Davidson pull out of the Sheetz parking lot and make a left turn onto Main Street in Brockway Borough. He noted the driver was a male with a beard and the female passenger had long hair. The vehicle pulled out of the parking lot and drove approximately one-eighth of a mile before making a right turn into a parking lot.

At that time, Corporal Berta pulled into the parking lot next to the vehicle. Corporal Berta informed the driver, later identified as Jason A. Chicola, of the accusation that he was in possession of meth and asked if he had any in his possession.

According to the complaint, Chicola said he had some for personal use on the motorcycle, and when Corporal Berta asked him where it was located, he said it was in the side pocket of the black leather bag on the back of his bike.

Corporal Berta then asked Chicola if he had any weapons on his person, and Chicola said the only weapon he had was a five-inch SOG straight blade that he was wearing on his belt. Chicola allowed Corporal Berta to remove the weapon and place it in his patrol vehicle.

Corporal Berta then found a glass smoking pipe inside a black Harley Davidson pouch along with a silver plastic case containing a small plastic bag that held suspected methamphetamine. Chicola said the substance in the plastic bag was meth and also said he uses the glass pipe for smoking meth. Chicola said the meth was purchased for $100.00, according to the complaint.

Chicola was operating the motorcycle with a suspended license and a license that was not the correct class for a motorcycle. The insurance for the motorcycle was also suspended and the registration expired, the complaint indicates.

Chicola was arraigned on Sunday, June 17, in Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office.
