In addition, the board approved a Title I After School Program. Boardmember Robert Cherubini said that both are excellent programs.

The board unanimously voted to increase the pay for extracurricular positions, such as ticket takers at football games and clock operators.

The board approved hiring Anthony Benson as an assistant football coach, Steve Buttery as the junior varsity basketball head coach as well as fifth and sixth grade basketball coach, and Dick Esposito as seventh and eighth grade basketball head coach. The board also added volleyball and soccer assistant coaches as well as a tennis intern.

Superintendent Jeff Vizza said that the tailgate before the home football game was a success, drawing over 250 people. He thanked the sponsors, such as The Hut Restaurant who sponsored a bouncy house, and the volunteers. He said that he hopes this is an annual event at the beginning of every school year.

Vizza also said that the first few weeks of school were a success.

“Any year when you start off, there’s a lot behind the scenes,” he said. “I want to thank our custodial staff for getting our facilities ready, the cafeteria staff for getting the kitchens ready, the teachers for working in their rooms, bus contractors for running our routes early, and, of course, our students and our parents.”
