Brookville Bike Racks Remain on Hold

BROOKVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – The question of whether or not Brookville Borough will approve additional downtown bike racks remains on hold following Tuesday night’s council meeting.

Pam Henderson and Carole Briggs, of the ad hoc bike rack committee, returned to ask the council if the questions regarding the bike racks brought up at the previous meeting had been resolved.

Council member Bill Kutz noted that Borough Solicitor James Dennison had been unavailable due to illness, and some of the questions had not yet been fully discussed.

“It’s just whether we control them after they’re installed – that is the issue,” Council President Phil Hynes noted.

The council asked that the ad hoc committee members return for the next meeting after Solicitor James Dennison has had time to look over the proposal and the letter soliciting business owners to purchase the racks.

“All we’re asking for is a chance to get this letter out to see if anyone would be willing, but the clarification needs to be made by the council so we know that what we’re doing is going to be okay, so we can send the letter,” Briggs said.

“At this point, if Mr. Dennison can review the letter, at the next meeting we will hopefully have a full contingent here than can vote on it one way or the other,” Hynes said.
