Brookville Borough Council Welcomes Junior Member Alternate

BROOKVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Another junior member was sworn in to the Brookville Borough Council at Tuesday evening’s meeting.

Brookville Area High School junior Taylor Reitz was sworn in as junior council member alternate, who will attend meetings when junior council member Donavan Hoffman is unavailable, at Tuesday evening’s meeting.

Reitz was welcomed to the table by the council members as she gave her first report on the current affairs at Brookville Area High School.

Council Approves Request for Signage

Borough Police Chief Vince Markle requested that council approve the placement of signs on the Borough Complex building stating that no firearms are permitted.

“There have been some issues in other locations, and I think that would be beneficial to our Borough Complex,” he noted.

A motion was made by council members and unanimously approved the placement of the signs.

OTHER BUSINESS

In other business, the council:

  • Approved a resolution to set the auditors for the 2019 accounts, utilizing the same firm as previously utilized.
  • Approved finalizing the five year strategic plan for advertisement at the next borough council meeting.
  • Announced the first meeting in January 2020 will be on Monday, January 6 at 7:00 p.m. and will be the reorganization meeting followed by the standard first meeting of the year.
  • Approved advertisement to put out for bid a 2012 Brammo electric bike with a minimum bid of $1,000. Bids will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on December 17, and will then be opened at the council meeting on December 17. Council president Phil Hynes noted the bike came to the borough as a test vehicle and the manufacturer never came back to reclaim it and is no longer in business.
