Brookville H&R Block Reminds Area Residents of April 18 Tax Filing Deadline

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – For many U.S. taxpayers, April 15 is a date burned into memory. Most years, it’s the date when tax returns are due. But not this year.

You have until April 18 to get your 2015 tax return filed.

This happens every so often. Typically, the filing deadline shifts when April 15 falls on a weekend. But this year, April 15 is a Friday. So why the move? IRS offices will be closed on April 15 for Emancipation Day, a Washington, D.C. holiday. As a result, the deadline is pushed to the following Monday.

To add further complication – April 18 is Patriots Day, a holiday in Maine and Massachusetts. So, if you live in one of those two states, you actually have until April 19 to file your state tax return.

Even with the extended deadline, you only have 11 days – or 12 in Maine and Massachusetts – to wrap things up.

We know people are busy, so to help finish their returns before the IRS deadline, Block is extending hours in offices nationwide.

Walk in, make an appointment or drop off your paperwork, and we will complete your return while you’re doing other things. Visit one of our offices for help today.
