Brookville Man Accused of Slamming Woman on Floor During Domestic Dispute

OLIVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Criminal charges have been filed against a Brookville man who reportedly slammed a woman onto a floor repeatedly during a domestic dispute.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 27-year-old Ryan Jacob Marshall.

According to a criminal complaint, around 11:32 p.m. on August 31, Punxsutawney-based State Police were dispatched to a location on Belshazzar Road in Oliver Township, Jefferson County, for a report of a domestic disturbance.

The troopers were informed the call originally came into Jefferson County 9-1-1 as a 9-1-1 hang-up. They were then informed that a female caller had told the dispatcher that she had her head hit off of the floor several times by a man at the residence. Police were also informed the dispatcher had made contact with the man, and he was outside of the residence waiting for them to arrive, the complaint states.

When police reached the scene, they located a man who identified himself as Ryan Jacob Marshall outside of the residence with no shirt on.

According to the complaint, when asked about what had occurred, Marshall told police that he and his girlfriend were arguing, and she then became violent and started scratching and clawing at his head and face.

The complaint notes police observed Marshall had no visible injuries on his head or face. The troopers also noted that Marshall had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath and his person and reportedly admitted to drinking that night.

Police then located the victim and questioned her about the incident.

According to the complaint, the victim told police that she had turned Marshall down for intimate relations, and he then became angry, grabbed her by the throat, and slammed her down several times. She said he wouldn’t stop, so she called 9-1-1. The victim reported Marshall continued to hit her off the floor after she called 9-1-1.

Police observed dried blood around the victim’s lips and saw that her gums were red and inflamed. They also found a cut on the victim’s right thumb and dried blood on her arms and shoulders. The victim reportedly denied needing EMS or medical treatment, the complaint states.

Marshall was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 10:30 a.m. on September 1, on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

He remains free on $20,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. on September 21 with Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock presiding.
