JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville man is behind bars after he allegedly threatened to kill another man, then pulled a knife on the state troopers who arrived to arrest him.
Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 36-year-old Gregg Matthew Luttman, of Brookville.
According to a criminal complaint, around 8:55 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, Gregg Luttman allegedly contacted a known victim via phone and left a threatening voicemail in which Luttman said he planned to kill the victim.
The following charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Gregory M Bazylak’s office on Friday, October 11:
– Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Harassment – Comm. Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 3
According to a second complaint, on October 11, around 3:30 a.m., Troopers Knotts and Fairman, of the Punxsutawney-based State Police, attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Gregg Luttman at his place of residence in Brookville. Upon their arrival, they observed Luttman sitting on his bed, watching television.
The complaint notes that after several attempts of announcing their presence and requesting that Luttman come to the door, stating they had a warrant for his arrest, Luttman continued to refuse to answer. The troopers then forced entry into the residence.
According to the complaint, after the door opened, Luttman “came at” the troopers holding a knife in his hand pointed toward them. Trooper Fairman instructed Luttman to drop the knife, but he allegedly failed to listen and took a step out onto the porch. Trooper Fairman then deployed his taser and stopped Luttman.
Luttman was arraigned in front of Judge Bazylak at 9:30 a.m. on October 11 on the following charges from this incident:
– Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
He was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $20,000.00 monetary bail on each case.
Preliminary hearings are scheduled for 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, with Judge Bazylak presiding.
