Brookville Man Dies from Injuries Suffered in Motorcycle Crash

ERIE CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville man has died in an Erie hospital after he was thrown from his motorcycle on Route 322 in Venango County on Sunday night.

According to the Erie County Coroner’s office, 62-year-old Barry L. Doverspike was pronounced deceased at 3:46 p.m. on Monday, August 27, at UPMC Hamot from injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash.

The crash occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, as Doverspike was traveling east on U.S. 322 on a 1990 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide. He was attempting to negotiate a left-hand curve in the roadway at 3800 U.S. 322, in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County, according to Franklin-based State Police.

Police say for unknown reasons, the motorcycle traveled off the eastbound lane and proceeding into a yard located at Lindy’s Tire and Auto Service. It rolled onto its left side and continued through a yard coming to a final rest. Doverspike was thrown in a driveway, approximately 10 feet west of the motorcycle.

He was flown from the scene by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Hamot for severe injuries, according to police.

Community Ambulance Service, Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, and Reno Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The motorcycle sustained disabling damage and was removed from the scene by Sugarcreek Towing.
