Brookville Man Escapes Injury in Crash Involving PennDOT Truck

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, yesterday.

Police say the accident happened around 9:19 a.m. when a 2005 Ford F-550 PennDOT truck operated by Dennis E. Plyler, 53, of Punxsutawney, was traveling south on SR-119 and entering the left turning lane at the road’s intersection with SR-36.

Police say Plyer stopped his vehicle prior to attempting to make a left turn on SR-36.

A 2004 Jeep Liberty operated by Carey A. Elliot, 27, of Punxsutawney, then began to turn left from Torrence Street onto SR-199 and failed to see Plyler’s vehicle.

Elliot’s vehicle was subsequently struck by Plyer’s truck, police say.

Both drivers escaped injury in the crash.

Also escaping injuries were three passengers in Plyer’s vehicle, Dennis E Holeva, 43, of Punxsutawney; Randy M. Schneider, 42, of Brookville; and Matthew G. Smith, 37, of Marion Center.
