Brookville Man Escapes Injury in One-Vehicle Crash in Knox Twp.

car-accident-graphic-5254_jpg_475x310_q85-300x225KNOX TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say a one vehicle crash occurred on March 26 around 12:15 a.m. on State Route 3039 in Know Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, Martin R. Smith, 48, of Brookville, was traveling north on Route 3039 in a 2008 Hummer H3, and for unknown reasons, left the roadway while negotiating a left hand curve.

Smith’s vehicle traveled off the east edge of the roadway and traveled 30 feet before impacting guiderails located 3 feet east of the road. The vehicle then traveled ten feet along the guiderail before returning back to Route 3039, then continued in a north direction for 132 feet before coming to final rest facing north along the east edge of the roadway, police say.

The driver was wearing a seat belt and sustained no injuries.

McPherson Towing assisted State Police at the scene.

Smith was charged with a traffic violation.
