Brookville Man Accused of Abandoning Two Young Girls Along Side of Road

PINE CREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville man is facing a series of charges after allegedly leaving two small children alone along the side of a road in Jefferson County.

On Wednesday, August 8, around 10:00 a.m., PSP Punxsutawney responded to the area of Sulgar Road in Pine Creek Township for a report of two abandoned young girls walking along the road after a passing motorist stopped to check on the safety and wellbeing of the children and called the police.

According to police, 54-year-old Donald Eugene Skinner of Brookville abandoned a 5-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl along Sulgar Road “with no regard to their safety.”

An arrest warrant was obtained and Skinner was subsequently apprehended without incident.

Skinner was arraigned at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, August 13, in Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak’s office.

He faces the following charges:

  • Endangering Welfare of Children – Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Felony 3 (two counts)
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
  • Disorder Conduct Hazardous/Physi Offense, Summary (two counts)
  • Restraint Systems – Child Booster Seat (two counts)

Unable to post $50,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, with Judge Bazylak presiding.
