police_line_11PINE CREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville man suffered major injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Route 28 Tuesday evening.

Punxsutawney-based State Police say the collision occurred around 8:59 p.m. along Route 28 near Butler Cemetery Road when a southbound 1996 Dodge Dakota operated by 86-year-old James F. Carberry, of Brookville, traveled into the path of a 2003 GMC Sierra operated by 26-year-old Jared R. Patton of Falls Creek.

Police say Carberry was rounding a curve in the roadway and traveled directly into the path of Patton’s vehicle.

Patton attempted to avoid the collision, but was unsuccessful, and the two vehicles collided head-on.

Carberry was extricated from his vehicle and flown to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of major injuries, according to police.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Pine Creek Township Fire Department, Jefferson County EMS, and STAT MedEvac.
