Brookville Man Flown to UPMC Hamot Following Motorcycle Crash

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville man was flown to UPMC Hamot after he was thrown from his motorcycle on Route 322 in Venango County on Sunday night.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 62-year-old Barry L. Doverspike, of Brookville, was traveling east on U.S. 322 on a 1990 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide. He was attempting to negotiate a left-hand curve in the roadway at 3800 U.S. 322, in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County.

For unknown reasons, the motorcycle traveled off the eastbound lane and proceeding into a yard located at Lindy’s Tire and Auto Service. It rolled onto its left side and continued through a yard coming to a final rest. Doverspike was thrown in a driveway, approximately 10 feet west of the motorcycle.

He was flown from the scene by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Hamot for severe injuries, according to police.

Community Ambulance Service, Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, and Reno Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The motorcycle sustained disabling damage and was removed from the scene by Sugarcreek Towing.

The investigation is continuing.
