NEW CASTLE, Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville Little League baseball team sponsored by Zwick Law and Matson Lumber of Brookville took home the tournament title at an under-12 tournament in New Castle Sunday.

The team competed against four other teams in a format the consisted of round-robin play Saturday and single-elimination bracket play Sunday.
On Saturday, Zwick Law/Matson Lumber of Brookville went 2-0 beating Greenville and Brookville’s Fox’s Pizza Team.
Then Sunday, the boys topped New Castle, 9-2, in the semifinals before beating Laurel, 9-4, in the championship game.
In the semifinal victory, Hunter Roney, Jamison Rhoades, Carson Weaver and Bryce Rafferty combined on a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Rafferty and Rhoades had three hits apiece and Roney had two hits including a two-run home run and three RBIs.
Then in the title game, Owen Caylor’s two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the fourth inning broke a 4-all tie to give Zwick Law/Matson Lumber of Brookville the victory. The team tacked on three more runs in the fifth on a two-run single by Rafferty and a double by Roney. Rhoades hit a two-run home run in a four-run first inning for the Brookville nine with Rafferty,Roney, Bryce Weaver and Caylor each coming up with two hits. Roney’s two were both doubles.
On the mound, Rafferty, Roney and Rhoades each threw two innings combining to give up just five hits while striking out eight.
