‘Nightmare Lane Haunted Hayride’ Open This Weekend

entranceBROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Each October in Brookville the leaves change, the weather cools, and only two things are certain – snow is just around the corner and the forest behind the Moonlite Drive-in transforms into a haven for crazed clowns, murderous pigs, and worse.

Over the past five years, the Brookville Volunteer Fire Company has hosted the Nightmare-Lane Haunted Hayride on Friday and Saturday nights in October. Last year, a walking trail portion was added to expand the experience.

Participants can enjoy the hayride, walking trail, or both each Friday and Saturday night, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., through November 1.

The hayride will also be open the day before Halloween, Thursday, October 30, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The cost for participating in either the hayride or the walking trail separately will be $9.00 for adults and $6.00 for kids. Those who choose to do both will pay $15.00 for adults and $10 for kids.

Admission will also include a film shown on the screen at the drive-in. Showings will include “Deliver Us From Evil” on October 24 and 25; and “Rob Zombie’s Halloween” on October 30, 31, and November 1.

clownThe Brookville VFC is an all-volunteer, fully-functioning fire station which responds to over 400 calls each year.

The training, equipment, and other operational costs can seem overwhelming to a non-profit organization with only 30 members. Fundraising is necessary for the fire company to be able to provide quality fire protection to the community.

Funds from this year’s haunted hayride will largely be used to purchase a new ladder truck that can cost over $1 million. The current truck used by the Brookville VFC is closing in on 40 years old and lacks necessary features to ensure the safety of the firefighters.

Additionally, the new ladder truck could potentially lower the cost of homeowner’s insurance policies for Brookville residents.

“This has really been a great event for us over the past few years,” said Nic Rawson, a firefighter and public relations coordinator for the fire company.

“Last year, we had several thousand people come through the hay-ride. Not only were people scared, but we received positive reviews from those who gave us feedback.”
