Brookville Woman Escapes Injuries in Rollover Crash on I-79 in Mercer County

JACKSON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A local woman escaped injury after her vehicle struck two embankments and rolled over on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township, Mercer County.

According to a report released by Mercer-based State Police on Sunday, April 23, 85-year-old Emily P. McNamara, of Brookville, was traveling southbound on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township, Mercer County, when she stated she saw something enter the roadway around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 16.

Police say McNamara swerved in her 2015 Toyota RAV4, which caused her to lose control of the vehicle and leave the left side of the roadway.

The vehicle hit an embankment, causing damage to the front driver’s side steering.

The vehicle then reentered the roadway, but McNamara was unable to steer due to the damage. This caused it to leave the left side of the roadway a second time, hitting an embankment and overturning onto its side.

McNamara was using a seat belt and was not injured.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Mercer Auto Wrecking.

According to police, McNamara was charged with a traffic violation.
