Calvin R. “Ray” Brosius

Calvin BrociusCalvin R. “Ray” Brosius, 67, Coolspring, died Saturday, February 18, 2017, at his home.

He was born July 28, 1949, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Audery R. (McHone) and Glenn C. Brosius.

On September 10, 2004, he married Kimberly A. (Smith) Brosius, who survives.

Ray was a graduate of the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1967.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged.

He enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family and friends, and was always there to help others when needed.

Ray also took pride in his John Deere tractor whether it was while mowing, snow plowing, or just taking it for a ride.

He was also a past member of the Brookville Volunteer Fire Company.

He worked as a truck driver for different employers throughout the years and drove for Health Ride before his retirement. Ray also served as a township supervisor for his township.

In addition to his wife Kimberly, he is survived by six siblings, sister Janet Hudecek and husband Lou of Gibsonia, sister JoAnn Booth and husband Bob of Clarion, brother John Brosius and wife Linda of Brookville, sister Dollie Ponthieux and husband Ed of Avondale, LA, brother Douglas Brosius and wife Amy of Big Run, and sister Mary Murray and husband Bill of Punxsutawney.

He is also survived by his mother-in-law Marie E. Smith of Coolspring; a sister-in-law Patty Sicley and husband Harry of Baytown, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the funeral home with with Pastor Douglas Wolfe officiating.

Interment will be in Coolspring Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mr. Brosius, to the Oliver Township Volunteer Fire Co., 184 Bodenhorn Road, Coolspring, PA 15730.
