Rossiter Man Injured in Canoe Township Crash

CANOE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 3:48 p.m. on December 19, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Central Street, near the intersection with T605, in Canoe Township, Indiana County.

According to police, Joseph Pisano, 55, of Rossiter, Pa., was traveling south on Central Street when he lost control of his 2011 Ford Ranger while negotiating a curve.

Pisano failed to negotiate a left hand curve on the extremely icy roadway.

Police say Pisano lost control of his vehicle, and it traveled off of the west edge of the roadway.

The vehicle then side-swiped a utility pole, which was located in the Rossiter American Legion Parking Lot.

After impacting with the utility pole, the vehicle continued to travel in a south west direction across the parking lot, and impacted with a handicap sign and some large shrubs.

The vehicle came to final rest approximately 15 feet off of the roadway, near a residence, and facing south.

Pisano sustained moderate injuries as a result of this crash and was transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Jefferson County EMS.

Pisano was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

PSP Punxsutawney was assisted at the scene by the Rossiter VFD.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by South Side Towing.
