Car Slams into Tree, Lands in Creek in Henderson Township

HENDERSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 8:30 a.m. on January 4, a one-car accident occurred on Starr Road, south of Pine Drive, in Henderson Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, 49-year-old Phyllis L. Quick, of Punxsutawney, was negotiating a slight downhill, left-hand curve on the snow-covered roadway.

Her 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt began to spin in a counter-clockwise direction, and she lost control of the car, police say.

The car slid approximately 130′ after leaving the travel portion of the roadway until a point where the right rear door of the car impacted a tree adjacent to a small creek.

After impact, the car came to rest in the creek in approximately 5-6 feet of water. The hood and front seat area was submerged in the creek.

Quick was able to get out of the car on her own accord.

She was using a seat belt and suffered moderate injuries.

Jefferson County EMS transported her to Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

The Big Run Volunteer Fire Company and Brosius Towing also assisted at the scene.
