Cecilia A. George

Cecilia A. George, 67, of Butler, passed away Sunday morning, January 8, 2017 at her home.

Cecilia was born in Butler on July 31, 1949. She was the daughter of Joseph C. and Margaret A. Hancheck Furka, of Butler. Cecilia was a 1967 graduate of Butler High School.

Mrs. George was a long time member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Coyleslville, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a member and president of the Slovak Club in Lyndora, the Summit Twp. Sportsman Club, and the Herman Volunteer Fire Dept.

Cecilia enjoyed cooking, bargain shopping, her dog, Midnite, and most especially the company of her grand kids. One of Cecelia’s finest traits was always thinking of others first.

Mrs. George was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. George, who died December 2, 2010. The couple was married September 21, 1968.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by four daughters, Amy (Dennis) Seybert of Cabot, Kimberly A. (Robert) Kepple and Tammy (Steve Custer) George all of Butler, and Jessica K.(Elmer) Mitchell of Karns City; five grandchildren, Daniel, Shane, Zack, Ashley, and Caleb, as well as six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Diana (D.L.) McCandless , Debbie Peitz, Theresa (Ted) Czyzyk, and Veronica (Donald) Forcht, all of Butler; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph R. and David P. Furka, as well as a number of brothers-in-law.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 668 Clearfield Rd., Fenelton, with the Rev. Matthew McClain, church pastor, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hile Funeral Home, PO Box 262, Chicora, PA 16025. Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville.
