Clarence H. “Clancy” Shoemaker

Clarence H. “Clancy” Shoemaker, age 85, of DuBois, PA, died Monday, April 1, 2024 at his home.

Born on April 13, 1938 in Penfield, PA, he was the son of the late Warry H. and Mary E. (Bochert) Shoemaker.

He was married to Joanne Allen Shoemaker. She preceded him in death in 2002.

He then married Rebecca Muffie Shoemaker. She preceded him in death in 2023.

Clancy was a graduate of Houston Township High School Class of 1956.

He went on to graduate from Waynesburg College Class of 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a minor in History and German.

He began teaching in Maryland but his German minor led to a substitute opportunity at the DuBois Area High School which became a regular position as both a German and English Teacher for most of his over 40-year teaching career.

Clancy led many trips to Europe with his students.

In addition to teaching he was a professional contractor and enjoyed bowling, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family.

Clancy is survived by three daughters (Whitney (Steve) Anthony of DuBois, PA, Charlene (Frank) Gaus of Bellefonte, PA and Amy (Glenn) Mack of Rossiter, PA), eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one brother (Merle W. Shoemaker), and numerous extended family.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter (Janette L. Burkett, siblings (Warry and Richard Shoemaker, and Mary Lash).

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 4 – 7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11 AM from the funeral home with Msgr. Richard Siefer officiating.

Burial will take place in Conway Cemetery.
