Clarion County Man Appointed as President, CEO of Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company

Eric Headshot 1.16 1MARBLE, Pa. – Eric Schmader, of Fryburg, was appointed as President and CEO of Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Marble this month. He replaced Robert A. Fitzsimmons who retired after serving the company for 50 years.

Schmader has been employed with Farmers Mutual for over twelve years and previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for ten years. Prior to joining Farmers Mutual, he worked in the banking industry for several years as a business development officer and branch manager.

Schmader is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (PAMIC) and National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC). He also served on the PAMIC board of directors and is a member of their Government Affairs and Information Systems committees. He is currently on the Farm Mutual Conference board for NAMIC serving in the position of Chairman-Elect. In addition, Schmader is a board member for the Mutual Inspection Bureau in Harrisburg and participates on additional industry related committees.

Schmader is involved in the local community by serving on various committees at his local church and the Washington Township Community Association. He volunteers his time as a coach for a youth boys’ basketball team, as well.

He resides in Fryburg with his wife Samantha and their children, Abigail and Collin.
