Clarion River Clean Up Set for September 7

COOKSBURG, Pa. (EYT) – A Clarion River Clean Up event is being held on Saturday, September 7.

Registration will be at the Cooksburg Cafe, located at 115 Riverside Drive in Cook Forest State Park, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Parking is designated at Pale Whale Canoe Fleet.

Bring your own kayak or canoe, or Pale Whale will provide a canoe for you for free.

Minors must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. Volunteers must wear good shoes for the river.

There will be three sections of the river to clean up.

A reception with pizza and prizes for the volunteers will be held at the DCNR River Pavilion starting at 2:00 p.m.

The alternative clean up date, pending river conditions, is September 28.

Celebrate the Clarion River’s victory as the 2019 River of the Year by helping clean up the river.

The event is sponsored by the Clarion Conservation District, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, Pale Whale Canoe Fleet, the Department of Conservation of Natural Resources (DCNR), Trout Unlimited Iron Furnace Chapter, and the Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds & Rivers (POWR).
