Clarion Tennis Drops PSAC Opener at Seton Hill

LATROBE, Pa. — The Golden Eagle tennis team kicked off conference action on Sunday afternoon, falling by a 7-0 score to Seton Hill in a match contested at Greater Latrobe High School.

The match was the first of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) season for Clarion.

Action started with the doubles session, with the Griffins taking all three matches to claim the first point of the day. Seton Hill won each of the three matches by a 6-1 score to open up a 1-0 lead on the Golden Eagles.

In the singles session, Davan Lion made a solid push in her first action of the spring, falling to the Griffins’ Carissa Shepard 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match. Similarly, Taelyn Thomas was solid in her Clarion debut, dropping a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Kendall McCluskey in the No. 6 singles match.

Stephanie Juarez Murguia made her Golden Eagle debut as well, falling 6-2, 6-0 to Sophia Solomon at No. 5 singles.

Josie Beckerleg, Polia Vladeva, and Charlie Allison all also dropped straight sets decisions to clinch the 7-0 win for the Griffins.
