Clarion’s Perry Hits Two PRs on First Day at Susquehanna Multi

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Leah Perry got off to a strong start in the Heptathlon with a couple of PRs on Thursday afternoon, kicking off the Orange Heptathlon at the Susquehanna Multi and Invitational.

The junior scored 2,491 points on the first day of competition, putting her in ninth place through four events.

Perry started things off with a new PR in the 100 Hurdles, breaking her previous best by more than two-tenths of a second and hitting a PSAC-qualifying time in the process. She took third in the event with a time of 15.33, more than a half-second faster than the conference qualifying mark of 15.85.

She followed up with another PR and conference qualifying mark in the High Jump, clearing the bar at a height of 1.57m. That topped her previous career-best height of 1.53m, and was also past the PSAC qualifying standard of 1.55m.

In the third event of the day, Perry took 12th in the field with a distance of 8.37m in the Shot Put. She followed that up with a time of 28.82 in the 200m, which also placed her 12th in the field.
