Cleora Green Bolam

Cleora Green Bolam, 91, passed away on February 9, 2021 as a result of Alzheimer’s.

She was being cared for at Jefferson Court in Brookville.

She was born In DuBois on March 25, 1929 and would have celebrated her 92nd birthday this year. She was the daughter of Hannah and Calvin Green.

Cleora graduated as valedictorian of Sandy High School, class of 1946. She married Charles W. Bolam in Kittery, Maine on April 18, 1947. Charles passed away in 1991.

Cleora retired in 1991 as a ware tester at Brockway Glass, one of the first women to be hired in this position. She loved retirement and spent her time traveling, researching genealogy, and sewing. Cleora was a talented seamstress, creating many beautiful quilts. For many years she made all of her clothes and clothes for her daughter. She also enjoyed crocheting and art projects.

Her research for family history resulted in many volumes of information about her family and her extended family. She loved to travel and she visited many states with her companion, Jim Kilmer, who passed away in 2013.

She and Jim were active members of the Coachmen Club and the Hickory Grange. She also enjoyed attending Bible Studies at the Emmanuel Boone Mt Church in Sabula. She loved having her family visit and enjoyed hosting meals at the family retreat known as the Mountain.

Cleora is survived by her children: Kathy (Jim) of Punxsutawney, Chuck (Elena) of Sarasota, FL, Ken of Charlotte, NC and daughter-in-law, Darlene Ward (Mike) of Oil City. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Andrea (Marc) Kaelin of Jacksonville, Meggan (Jack) Matson of Brookville, Stacy (Allen) Wessel of New Holland, Sidney (Brendan) Bolam King of Nashville, IN, Michael Bolam of Pittsburgh, Kari (Howard) Zeigler of Evans City, Lauren Bolam of Charlotte, and Jordan Woodburn of Germany. She was the very proud GeeGee of Sophie, Grace, Charlotte, AJ., Liddy, Theo and Violet. She is also survived by her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and David Welty of Lincoln, IL., sister-in law, Shirley Bolam of Jupiter, FL, brother-in-law, Richard (Mary Ann) Bolam of Sarasota. She was the proud aunt of many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her son, husband, and parents, Cleora was predeceased by her sister, Decima Henry and brothers Arthur Lavere McCallister, Walter Green and Calvin Green.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Jefferson Court for their many years of kindness and devotion to our mother. We appreciate all that you did for her. Thank you to the Brookville Hospital staff and the Penn Highlands Community Nurses Hospice for their support and kindness.

Due to the current restrictions related to Covid 19, the funeral will be held at Deeley’s Funeral Home for immediate family only. Memorials may be made to Lakeside Methodist Church,426 First St. DuBois, PA 15801 or the Alzheimer’s Association of Pittsburgh, 3401 Provost Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.

Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois, PA.
