Clifton L. “Tip” Hice

Clifton L. “Tip” Hice, age 88, of Brookville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2022, at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital in DuBois, PA.

He was born to the late David Allen and Lena E. (Knapp) Hice in Brookville, PA, on August 10, 1934.

Tip attended the Brookville High School. On March 3, 1956, Tip married the love of his life, Doris (Barger) Hice, who preceded him in passing in 2003.

He was a heavy equipment operator before becoming a foreman for Pittsburg and Shawmut Railroad in Brookville, PA.

He worked there all his life before retiring in August of 1996.

Tip was a member of the Port Barnett United Methodist Church in Brookville, PA.

He was also a member of the NRA and the NWTF organizations.

He was a life member of the Pine Creek Volunteer Fire Department, where he served over fifty-five years.

Tip spent fifteen years as their Fire Chief.

He was dedicated to serving and protecting his surrounding communities.

He loved to hunt, especially when it came to deer, turkeys, and groundhogs.

He also enjoyed many other outdoor activities such as fishing, and just spending time outside.

Above all, family and friends mattered most to Tip.

Tip is survived by two children; Sally (Denny) Allgeier of Brookville, PA, and Bradley (Barbara) Hice of Brookville, PA; four grandchildren; Sarah (Jesse) Martinson of Brockway, PA, Michael (Kelsey) Allgeier of Brookville, PA, Becky (Kenny) Carrier of Brookville, PA, and Andrea (Drew) Wallace of Brookville, PA; six great-grandchildren; Riley Martinson of Brockway, PA, Alexander Allgeier of Brookville, PA, Alayna and Evan Carrier of Brookville, PA, and Maddock and Rori Wallace of Brookville, PA; one brother; Carl Hice of Brookville, PA; one brother in law; Sam Reitz of Brookville, PA; two sisters in laws; Anna Galassi of Bradys Bend, PA, and Alice Crisman of Parker, PA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife; Tip is preceded in death by one brother; Floyd Hice; one sister; Freda Reitz; and one nephew; Gary Reitz.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 2 – 6pm at the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.

The Pine Creek Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a Fireman’s Service in Tip’s honor beginning at 5:30 pm.

A funeral service will take place immediately following the viewing, beginning at 6 pm, and officiated by Pastor Joni Williams.

Interment will take place privately by the funeral home at the Butler Cemetery, Pine Creek Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in Tip’s name to the donor’s choice.
