Cook Forest to Host ‘Snowman in the Forest’ Today

COOKSBURG, Pa. (EYT) – Cook Forest Vacation Bureau will host a “Snowman in the Forest” event from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on February 21, 2015, in Cooksburg.

The event will include a snowman building contest, a chili cook-off, sledding, face painting, a guided hike, and more.

To participate in the snowman building contest, build a snowman in any designated sponsor’s location in the Cook Forest/Clear Creek area, beginning with the first snowfall of the season and ending with the last snowfall in February.

Have the sponsor take a picture of the participant and snowman and it will be entered in the contest and displayed on the website at www.cookforest.org.

Participating sponsors include: Campers Paradise; Cherry Run Cabins; Cook Riverside Cabins; Evergreen Cabins; Fairwinds in the Forest; Forest Ridge Cabins; Gateway Lodge; Hominy Ridge Lodge & Cabins; Kellywood Cabins; Knotty Pines; Shiloh Resort; The Inn at Cook Forest; Trails End; Top Hill Cabins; and White’s Haven Campground.

The schedule of activities for February 21 is as follows:

11:30 a.m.
– Chili Cook-Off
– Guided Hike within the old growth forest on Cook Trail

11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
– Carriage Rides
– Sledding
– Snowman Building
– Wildlife Presentation
– K-9 Rescue Team Presentation
– Face Painting
– Indoor Games

1:00 p.m.
– Happy Dog Contest
– Guided hike within the old growth forest on Cook Trail

2:00 p.m.
– Door Prize Awards.
