Cow and Dog on Roadway Cause Crash in Clearfield County

FERGUSON TWP., CLEARFIELD CO., Pa. (EYT) – State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash caused by a cow and a dog on the roadway in Ferguson Township, Clearfield County.

According to Clearfield-based State Police Trooper Cummings, the accident happened on January 14 around 10:50 p.m.

Both vehicles were traveling eastbound on La Jose Road when a 2016 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 16-year-old Clearfield female came to a sudden stop when a cow and a dog ran out in front of her vehicle.

The second vehicle, a 2016 Ford Explorer driven by 42-year-old Leslie A. Smeal, of Clearfield, then rear-ended the Jeep.

Both drivers and a passenger in the teenager’s vehicle – 49-year-old Maribeth Evans – were wearing seatbelts and escaped injuries.

The Jeep Wrangler had minor damage, but was still functional, as a result of the collision.

The Ford Explorer sustained disabling damage.
