REYNOLDSVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Criminal conferences are scheduled for today for a Reynoldsville couple charged after a child was reportedly discovered in “deplorable conditions” in Reynoldsville.
Court documents indicate 31-year-old Jaime Lynn Gilbert and 29-year-old Jacob Andrew Holben are scheduled for criminal conferences with President Judge John H. Foradora at 1:00 p.m. on October 21.
They each face the following charges:
– Endangering Welfare of Children – Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1
– Marijuana-Small Amount Personal Use, Misdemeanor
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
The defendants remain free on $10,000.00 each unsecured bail.
Details of the case:
According to a criminal complaint, Around 7:37 a.m. on July 16, DuBois-based State Police were contacted by an “anonymous” caller regarding a possible domestic altercation at a location on Grant Street Extension in Reynoldsville Borough, Jefferson County.
Police then responded to the scene and made contact with Jamie Gilbert and Jacob Holben.
According to the complaint, Holben admitted he and Gilbert had been using methamphetamine in the early morning hours and were arguing loud enough to alarm the neighbors. He noted that he smoked the methamphetamine through a glass light bulb, while Gilbert snorted it because smoking it “makes her sick.”
The complaint notes the couple’s infant son was located in an upstairs bedroom and was then relocated to the living room downstairs.
According to the complaint, Jefferson County Children and Youth Services (CYS) was then contacted based on the condition of the residence and the condition of Gilbert and Holben. CYS then conducted a walk-through of the residence, along with police, during which several items of drug paraphernalia, including a broken light bulb containing methamphetamine residue, a green smoking pipe with marijuana residue, and a clear plastic cylinder of marijuana, were found in plain view.
The complaint states CYS then deemed the residence unfit, and an emergency custody agreement for the child was signed, and he was placed into emergency custody.
