D9Sports.com: Lady Chucks Fall to Chartiers Valley, 33-14

CLARION, Pa. (D9Sports.com) — Limited to just four points in the second half, the Punxsutawney Lady Chucks lost their PIAA Class AAA state playoff opener to Chartiers Valley, 33-14, Saturday afternoon at Clarion University’s Tippin Gymnasium.

Punxsutawney (16-8) was actually tied with Chartiers Valley 10-10 at halftime, but the Lady Chucks went scoreless in the third quarter. Chartiers Valley outscored Punxsutawney, 12-0, in the third quarter and 11-4 in the fourth quarter to advance.

Next up for the WPIAL third seed Chartiers Valley (21-5) is WPIAL fifth seed Beaver, which beat District 10 champion Villa Maria.
