David R. Hallowell

David R. Hallowell, age 74 of DuBois, PA, died Sunday, January 2, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.

He is survived by his children Robert Hallowell and Brenda Kunselman, their respective spouses Heather Hallowell and Scott Kunselman, and his grandchildren Haley and Aliza Hallowell, Isaac Kunselman, Courtney Kunselman Jackson, and her husband Brandon Jackson.

David valued his family above all else in this world, and he was a vessel of God’s persistent grace to all who were blessed to call him family or friend.

David was born on September 13, 1947, in DuBois, PA to the late Renwick & Ruby (Deible) Hallowell.

He was the baby of the family and had three older siblings (Bill Hallowell & his wife Honey Ann, John Hallowell & his wife Linda and Barb Averill & her husband Bill).

On July 8, 1967, David married the love of his life, Kathy Nasuti. They were married for 50 beautiful years before she passed in 2017.

David was a journeyman tool and dye maker by trade, and he worked for many local industries throughout his career.

He took a lot of pride in his craft, and he always ensured that his customers received the finest quality products.

David was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church for his entire life.

His church and church family were of paramount importance to him, and during his tenure as a member he held the positions of Church Council President, trustee, and Sunday School teacher.

In his younger years, his favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, trapping, shooting, and most other outdoor sporting activities.

He was not the biggest fan of traveling, but he was always up for the drive to his cabin in Potter County and to share what he loved most with the people that he loved most.

Spending time with family and friends was his favorite pastime.

Never one for small-talk or gossip, he was always the first to pull out a deck of cards or the Monopoly board.

He loved games (almost as much as he loved winning); every activity, no matter how mundane, was regularly turned into some sort of competition.

He was skilled at almost everything he touched, and beating him in any competition was always a huge (but often fleeting) accomplishment for the victor.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 6 PM – 8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A private family funeral service will be held from the funeral home with Pastor Drew Gordon officiating.

Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Emergency Fund for Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church c/o Honey Ann Hallowell, 62 Laurel Lane, Reynoldsville, PA 15851.
