Derraick “Sammy” Burkett

Derraick “Sammy” Burkett sadly passed away at the young age of 19 in Clearfield, PA on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.

Sammy is survived by his loving grandparents, Edward and Victoria Burkett, his mother Tasha Burkett, his uncles and aunt, Edward (Heather) Burkett, Shane (Megan) Burkett, and Kellie (Jeff) Carberry.

Sammy is also survived by a younger sister, Lucy Dempsey, and older brother, Dillan Ritchie.

Along with the loving support of Aaron Dempsey.

Sammy is also survived by his cousins Hailey and Edward Burkett III; Keelan, Bryce, and Brayden Kunselman; and Austyn and Cooper Burkett, all of whom were like brothers and sisters to him.

Also surviving is Logan Smedley, who was not only Sammy’s best friend, but was his brother.

Sammy was a standout athlete in both football and track, during his years at DAHS.

Sammy was attending Edinboro University in pursuit of a degree in Criminology.

His dream was to be a police officer in New York City.

The memories and dreams of Sammy live on through the countless people who were lucky enough to cross paths with him.

A flower, in the Garden of Eden, picked too soon.

Sammy was a child of faith. “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” – 2 Timothy 4:7.

Services will be held privately to the family and have been entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825.
