Donald E. Coleman

Donald ColemanDonald E. Coleman, 80 of Sykesville, died Friday, March 3, 2017 at DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

He was born April 25, 1936 in Hawthorne, PA. He was the son of the late Melvin Blair & Mary (Dinger) Coleman.

He was married 60 years to Ruth E. (Beatty) Coleman; she preceded him in death Jan. 22, 2017.

He was in the US Navy during Vietnam era, having retired in 1975 as a Sonar Tech, Chief Petty Officer E7.

He enjoyed playing guitar in several Country bands for many years. He loved working on old cars and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by a daughter Jodi (Joseph) Leonard of Sykesville, three sons David M. Coleman of Reynoldsville, Donald M. (Penny) Coleman of DuBois and Perry E. Coleman of Florida, two brothers “Bill” (Joan) Coleman of Tonawanda, NY and Paul W. (Grace) Coleman of Brockway, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother Blair Coleman.

The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, March 7th from 4 – 7pm and Wednesday, form 10 – 11am at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois. A service will follow at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Spencer officiating. Military Honors will be held at Butler Cemetery by the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
