Donald Kenneth Neigh, 86, of Clarington, PA, formerly of Butler, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018, as a resident of the McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA.
Don was born on September 14, 1931, in Butler, PA, to the late Edward and Clementina (Miller) Neigh.
He attended school in the Butler area and on November 4, 1951, he married Thelma May (Bellis) Neigh; Thelma preceded him in passing on May 28, 2014.
He was a member of the Timberline Church in Fort Collins, Colorado. Don spent his entire career working in the Armco Steel Mill, which is now known as AK Steel. He had 38 dedicated years of service with the company and he retired in 1994. A month after retiring Don was diagnosed with cancer. He has spent the last 20 years battling and facing different types of cancer that affected various parts of his body.
Don carried this burden well and lived his life as fully as he could while he continued to share love for God, his family and dogs. He was very talented in playing the acoustic guitar. He enjoyed visiting the nursing homes and playing for the residents when he was able. He loved and was always ready to play games. He enjoyed cards, board games, and computer games. He loved digging into the Earth for his garden, in which he enjoyed growing tomatoes. He had a wood shop that he constantly had projects in progress and he loved to play golf. Those who knew Don would remember that he had a great sense of humor and was always joking and laughing.
Don is survived by two daughters; Naomi (Kevin) Smelser of Clarington, PA; Rachel (the late Gary) Moore of Monument, CO; two sisters; Lucille Carson, Norene Huss; one brother; Floyd Neigh; and two grandchildren; Nathaniel and Bethany Moore.
Don’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, April 14, 2018, with a memorial service being held at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, beginning at 3:00 p.m., and officiated by Pastor Ralph Johnson. Interment will be handled privately by his family.
