Donald L. Patchell

Donald L. Patchell, age 94 of Russellville, AR, formerly of DuBois, PA, died Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the John L. McClellan Veterans’ Hospital in Little Rock, AR.

Born on June 30, 1929, in Reynoldsville, PA, he was the son of the late Donald A. and Edythe G. (Motherwell) Patchell.

Don was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War and had been a member of the PA National Guard 28th Division.

On June 23, 1957, he married his wife of 63 years, Jessie L. (Bundy) Patchell. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2020.

Don worked as an inspector for Brockway Glass/Owens Brockway from 1953 until his retirement in 1992.

He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and photography, especially nature and travel photography.

He was an avid fan of the Pirates, Steelers, Pitt, and Penn State.

He also loved to travel.

He and his wife had visited 47 states, 9 Canadian provinces, many European countries, and the Caribbean.

Don is survived by two children, Dr. Donald A. Patchell and his wife Dr. Heidi Dobish of Shepherdstown,
WV and Cynthia Gearhart and her husband Chris of Russellville, AR; five grandchildren, Mabel and Max
Patchell, Joseph Gearhart and his wife Ashlyn, Alix Gearhart and Joshua Gearhart and his wife Brittany; two
great-grandchildren, Elijah and Emmett Gearhart; brother-in-law, Louis Showers; and brother and
sister-in-law, Allen and Bernice Bundy; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Marc Leroy Patchell.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Orndorff officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded from the funeral home by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.

Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.
