Dr. Louis Luke Barich M.D., age 89 of Hamilton, OH, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019.
Louis was born in Plum, PA on June 6, 1929 to the late Joseph and Helen (nee Schaffer) Barich.
While serving in the US Army Infantry Louis served as a clerk typist, surgical technician and petroleum product analyzer.
After discharge, Louis attended Fairmont State College, University of Pittsburgh Pharmacy School followed by University of Pittsburgh Medical School.
He graduated as a medical doctor specializing in Dermatology.
Louis opened his office in 1962 in Hamilton, Ohio, practicing for 56 years.
Louis served as President of the Butler County Medical Society, Hamilton-Fairfield Area Academy of Medicine, Ohio Dermatological Association and American Cancer Society (Butler-Hamilton Unit).
Outside of his practice and involvement in various medical associations, Louis was a pioneer in protecting minors from the hazards of ultra-violet radiation emitted from tanning beds.
Louis is survived by his wife of 66 years, Donna Jean (DeChurch) Barich; his sister Pat (Doug Tolbert) Samargo; and his brother, Frank (Jan) Samargo. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Heck and his brother, Joseph Barich.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 2:00pm at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church Cemetery in Sykesville with Fr. William Barron as celebrant.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Leo Nedza Funeral Home of Sykesville.
