Driver Injured After Falling Asleep at the Wheel on Interstate 80

UNION TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a man was injured after falling asleep and crashing his vehicle on Interstate 80 in Union Township late last week.

According to police, around 12:57 p.m. on February 18, a one-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 80 just west of State Route 949.

Police say 35-year-old Michael R. Morehouse, of Shippensburg, was operating a 2017 Mack truck, traveling east on Interstate 80 when he fell asleep at the wheel and lost control of the vehicle. The truck struck a guide rail and an embankment and then overturned onto its side.

Morehouse suffered injuries of unknown severity and was transported to Penn Highlands Brookville by Jefferson County EMS.

The truck was towed from the scene by Bloom Towing.

Morehouse was cited for careless driving.
