Driver Injured in Tractor Trailer Collision on Interstate 80

PINE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say one driver was injured when two tractor-trailers collided on Interstate 80 last Wednesday.

According to police, around 12:26 p.m. on December 16, a two-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 80 eastbound near mile marker 107.

Police say 40-year-old Oluwadare B. Ogunpolu, of Rochester, New York, was operating a 2012 Freightliner truck, traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 when he made an unsafe passing movement which caused another 2012 Freightliner truck, operated by 59-year-old Mark A. Wessels, of Orangeville, Illinois, to strike the rear of his vehicle.

The collision caused Ogunpolu’s truck to travel off the north side of the roadway and suffer disabling damage.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Ogunpolu suffered injuries of unknown severity and was transported to Penn Highlands DuBois by DuBois EMS Ambulance Service.

Wessels was not injured.

Ogunpolu was cited for a speed violation.
