Driver Loses Control of Vehicle, Hits Edge of North Fork Bridge on I-80

BROOKVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Police say a driver lost control of his vehicle and struck the North Fork Bridge parapet on Interstate 80 eastbound on Tuesday.

According to police, around 1:34 a.m. on June 8, a one-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 80 eastbound, near the 79.6 mile-marker, in Brookville Borough, Jefferson County.

Police say 37-year-old Juan E. Palmer, of Glenpool, Oklahoma, was operating a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, traveling east on a left curve in the roadway when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle struck the west end of the North Fork Bridge parapet wall with its left side, then continued east for approximately 160 feet before coming to a final rest in the right lane on the bridge, facing east.

Palmer and his passenger, identified as 36-year-old Justin A. Horsley, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, were both using seat belts and were not injured.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage to its left side and was towed from the scene by Bricen Towing.

Brookville Fire Company and Pine Creek Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

Palmer was cited for a traffic violation.
