Driver Swerves to Avoid Deer, Slams into Tree

PERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a vehicle struck a tree in Perry Township last week after swerving to avoid several deer in the roadway.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, the accident happened around 9:31 a.m. on September 7, on Fan House Road in Perry Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 50-year-old Bobby J. Pierce, of Homer City, was operating a 2005 Dodge Dakota, traveling north on Fan House Road when several deer entered the roadway. Pierce swerved to the left to avoid hitting the deer, and his vehicle then went off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Pierce was using a seatbelt and was not injured.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage.

Rebuck’s South Side Towing also assisted at the scene.
