DuBois Man Facing DUI Charges from Crash That Seriously Injured Woman

arrestedREYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – A DuBois man is facing charges stemming from an accident that left a woman seriously injured.

According to online court documents, Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 24-year-old David M. Sierzega, of DuBois.

Hw was arraigned at 1:25 p.m. on April 25 on the following charges:

– Aggravated Assault by Vehicle While DUI, Felony 2

– DUI: General Impairment/Inc. of Driving Safety – First Offense, Misdemeanor

– DUI: Highest Rate of Alcohol (Blood Alcohol Content .16 or Higher), First Offense, Misdemeanor

– Disregard Traffic Lane (Single), Summary

– Driving at Safe Speed, Summary

– Careless Driving, Summary

– Reckless Driving, Summary

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, in District Judge David Inzana’s office.

He is free on $20,000.00 unsecured bail.

According to a previous article on explorejeffersonpa.com, Punxsutawney-based State Police reported a one-car accident on March 14 on Route 119 in Henderson Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, around 9:47 a.m. on March 14, a 1997 Nissan Altima, driven by Sierzega, was traveling southbound on Route 119, south of Township Road 511, and failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway. Sierzega lost control of his car, and it slid off the west side of the roadway. Then, it struck a utility pole and slid to its final rest.

A passenger in the vehicle – 35-year-old Christina A. Fetterman, of Rossiter – was seriously injured.

Sykesville EMS transported her to DuBois Regional Medical Center, according to police.

Sierzega was not injured.

Both occupants were using seat belts.

According to police, “the operator of the vehicle (Sierzega) was suspected of being DUI and consented to a legal blood draw.”

Sierzega has a lengthy criminal record with charges and guilty pleas in Clarion, Clearfield, Jefferson, and Elk counties that include theft, receiving stolen property, various traffic offenses, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and harassment.
