DuBois Woman Faces Felony Retail Theft Charges After Stealing Pop from Punxsy Business

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – A DuBois woman is facing third-degree felony charges following a retail theft that occurred at the Groundhog Plaza in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County.

According to online court documents, the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 36-year-old Corine Darci Shannon, of DuBois, currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.

According to a criminal complaint, at 11:06 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, Officer Andrekovich, of the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department, was dispatched to the Groundhog Plaza for a retail theft.

Upon arrival to the plaza, Officer Andrekovich was informed that the suspect fled the scene. It was learned that she removed a bottle of Coke pop from a business at the Groundhog Plaza.

The suspect (later identified as Corine Shannon) was stopped by the manager of the business, and she allegedly admitted to the theft in front of the manager and others.

When the suspect fled the area, she left her purse and identification on the counter.

Shannon faces charges of third-degree felony Retail Theft.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on February 15 in front of Magisterial District Judge Douglas Robert Chambers.

Shannon has a lengthy criminal history in both Clearfield and Jefferson counties with multiple charges of retail theft, burglary, assault drug possession, forgery, and related charges.
