Edward Murphy

Edward Murphy, 89, of Sykesville, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

He was born May 21, 1932 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Clarence & Joanna (Sitosky) Murphy.

He was in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

He lived most of his life in Sykesville having owned and operated Murphy’s Service Station in Sykesville.

He was a member of the Sykesville Firemen’s, VFW Post 813 in DuBois, Elks Club in Reynoldsville and the Sykesville American Legion for 68 years.

Edward is survived by a sister Natalie Brooks of Sanborn, NY and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Edward was also preceded in death by a sister Margaret Sierzega and a brother Walter Sitosky.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 9, from 3 until 6pm at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville.

Service will follow at 6pm at the Funeral Home with Fr. Bill Barron officiating. Burial will take place in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery in Sykesville.
