Edward R. Simpson

Edward R. Simpson, 76, Marion Center, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the West Penn Hospital.

The son of Thomas and Thelma (Hoopengardner) Simpson, he was born November 1, 1939 in South Mahoning Township, Indiana County.

Mr. Simpson was raised in the Marion Center area, attended Ambrose grade school, and was a graduate of Marion Center Area High School. He was the owner and operator of E & S Service Station and also a self-employed truck driver who was a member of the Marion Center Presbyterian Church. Mr. Simpson liked being active and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed the company of his dog “Ace” and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Sandra L. (Lightcap) Simpson; daughters, Beth (Frederick) Turner, Home, Karen (James) Ryen, Marion Center, Robin (Josh) Noerr, Punxsutawney; grandchildren, Edward (Jurie) Turner, Alicia and Michael Turner, all of Home, Laken and Ty Ryen, Marion Center, and Mason and Logan Noerr, Punxsutawney; a sister, Mary O’Keefe, Indiana; and his dog, Ace.

Preceding Edward in death were his parents; a brother, William; Brother-in-law, Melvin O’Keefe and sister-in-law Beulah Simpson.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana. An additional hour of viewing will be held in the Marion Center Presbyterian Church from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at which time the funeral service will begin with Pastor Chris Enoch, officiating. Interment will follow in the Gilgal Cemetery.
