Esther Rosella (Brocious) McKinley

Esther Rosella (Brocious) McKinley, age 80, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015.

Esther was born in Summerville, PA, on November 4, 1934 to the late John Leon and Anna Madeline (Wolfgong) Brocious. Esther married Donald R. McKinley at the Shannondale Zion Lutheran Church on June 4, 1955; Donald preceded her in death.

Esther is survived by two daughters, Candus D. McKinley (David) Brody of Sewickley, PA, and Cathy D. (George) Bowser of Brookville, PA. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Joel E. (Krista) Welsh of North Carolina; Aaron M. Welsh of Brookville, PA; Anna M. Welsh of Pittsburgh, PA; and 1 great-grandchild, Seth M. Welsh of Brockway, PA. She is also survived by her sister Celia M. (Brocious) Smith of Summerville, PA; brother-in-law Robert (Kay) McKinley of Brookville, PA;
sister-in-law Mary (Eugene) McKinley; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Prior to and for a short time after marriage, Esther was employed at Brockway Glass. She was also employed as a Teacher’s Aide and retired from the Brookville Area School District. Esther always enjoyed spending time with her family as well
as traveling with her husband Don to Florida, Western US and Canada.

She was an active member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Brookville. She served in the Session, Women’s Guild, taught Sunday School, Bible School and lead the young children in music during Bible School. She also spent time at the
McKinley Health Center providing beautiful music and encouraging the residents to
sing.
Family and friends will be received from 9 – 11:30am, on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825. A funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 11:30am, also at the McKinney-d’Argy Funeral Home.
