Ethel M. “Skip” Schantz, 85, of Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.
Ethel was born on March 26, 1933, in Jerome, a daughter of the late Paul S. and Cozie V. (Troutman) Geist.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Russell E. Schantz on November 2, 1998.
She is survived by three sons, Harry Schantz, Charles Schantz, and Gary Schantz, all of Punxsutawney; two grandsons, Justin Schantz and wife Mariah, and Edward Schantz; one brother, Robert Geist of Brookville; and two sisters, Goldie Hicks of Punxsutawney and Lois Elkin of Big Run.
In addition to her parents and husband Russell, she was preceded in death by one son, Russell Schantz, Jr.; five brothers, Clair, Harold, James, Paul, and Carl Geist; and one sister, Alda Marie Newcome.
Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Joseph Buterbaugh officiating. Private interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.
