Etta Mae Hynds

Etta Mae Hynds age 90 a former Granville Road Brockway, PA resident, currently a resident at Brookside Senior Living in Brookville, PA, passed away of Covid on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 with the spirit of her family around her.

Born on March 29, 1930, in Brockway, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Dorothy Slawson Calhoun.

On October 23, 1948, she was married to Robert A. Hynds and he preceded her in death on December 14, 2015.

Etta was a 1947 graduate of the Brockway Area High School. Retired, she had been employed at Brockway Glass in the Decorating Department and also had been employed at Brockway Ford.

Etta was Methodist by faith.

She was a past member of the Brockway Vol. Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary where she served as it’s Treasurer and and Vice President for many years. She also was a member of the AARP.

She is survived by a daughter, Jackie (Glenn) Kuhar of Brockport and a son, Robert L. (Lou Anne) Hynds of Brockway; 4 grandchildren, Mindy Potts of Brockway, Benjamin Hynds of Brockway, Jessica (Matt) DeSantis of Charlotte, NC, and Kady Kuhar also of Brockway; as well as by 4 great grandchildren, Owen, Jayce, Mia and Cody.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is also preceded in death by a sister, Vada Snyder and 2 brothers, Donald S. Calhoun and Gerald L. Calhoun. Etta was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

There will be no public visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Temple Cemetery at Hazen. Memorial donations may be made to the Brockway Vol. Hose Company PO Box 253 Brockway, PA 15824. The family would also like to thank Steve, Kristin, Tom and the employees of Brookside Senior Living for all the loving care they provided for our mom.
