kibler-eva-obit-photoEva Jean (Hamler) Kibler, age 89, of Maplevale Rd., in Brookville, PA, passed away on November 15, 2016, during her short stay at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA.

In keeping with her personality, she sent her family home to get some rest, after they left, she passed on peacefully, naturally, and on her own terms. Eva was born on January 23, 1927, in Rossiter, PA, to the late Wilbur T. and Pauline (McKinley) Hamler. On April 22, 1944, she married Daniel David Kibler, in Brookville, PA; they spent 62 beautiful and family oriented years together before Daniel’s passing on March 24, 2006.

Eva attended the Corsica Schools, and when she was done there she went to work for the Brookville Glove Factory. Through her efforts and hard work, she was able to finance the project of having electricity run in her parent’s home for the first time. She did those things before she was married, and she and Daniel were married when she was 17 years old. After their wedding, Eva took a position working for Sylvania in Brookville and she was with them until they shut down 14 years later. She then moved to working in the Kitchen at the Brookville Hospital, and eventually retired from working in the Deli at the Riverside Grocery Store in Clarion, PA.

Eva was a member of the Church of Christ in Roseville, PA. She was a “homebody” type of person, but she had a tremendous concern for the wellbeing of all of her family. She loved them so much, and she was very proud of all the accomplishments that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have completed. She was a very independent woman and she liked doing things her way, including choosing to never own a washer and dryer and mowing the yard as recently as September of this year, when her children thought maybe she shouldn’t.

Even though she didn’t leave this area much, she loved seeing exotic places, animals, and people; she was able to satisfy this curiosity through the many different shows that were on the television. She loved watching Animal Planet, but her favorite shows were the Judges, like Judge Judy. She was close to her siblings, they were her best friends, as their group gets smaller, the voids feel larger, and she was a large part of their fellowship.

Eva came from a family where becoming a pilot was supported and she was proud of the many pilots she helped raise; however, she would never go up in the plane with any of them. She lived life for her family, and she did it the way she wanted too.

Eva is survived by 2 sons; Donald W. (Doris) Kibler of Atlanta, GA; Ronald P. (Maryse) Kibler of Atlanta, GA; 1 daughter; Patricia (Bill) Shick of Mayport, PA; 3 sisters; Alma Neel, Doris (Ray) Smith, Phyllis Ankeny, all of Roseville, PA; 8 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Eva is preceded in death by 1 brother; William T. Hamler; 1 sister; Bonnie Smith; 1 granddaughter; Melissa Kibler; and 1 grandson; Kirby Hetrick.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 18, 2016, from 10 – 11am, at the Church of Christ (Roseville) 3359 Rt. 322, Brookville, PA, 15825.

A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at the Church of Christ, beginning at 11:00am, and officiated by Evangelist John Kerr.

Interment will take place at the Roseville – Bethel Cemetery, Union Twp,. Jefferson Co., PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Church of Christ. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, in Brookville, PA.
